KATH Under Siege: Yamin Boys Order Security Head to Vacate
Story By Michael Ofosu-Afriyie, Kumasi.
Three persons including Deputy Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, Captain Kwame Jabari and former employee and medical practitioner at KATH, Dr Fred Bedzirah as well as Isham Alhassan, Ashanti Regional Organiser of the NDC on Monday are reported to have threatened the head of Security at KATH.
The three NDC aligned persons are said to have instructed the Head of Security not to return to work on Tuesday.
Confirmation:
Speaking to this reporter with a shaking tone, Captain Eric Amoah, the Head of Security confirmed the incident.
“I was accosted at my office on Monday by one Captain Kwame Jabari, Dr Fred Bedzirah who i know very well as an employee at KATH and one Isham Alhassan and I was asked not to step foot at my post again”, the Head of Security stated.
Details:
According to Captain Amoah, the three noted that they had instructions from Mr Joseph Yamin, the National Organiser of the NDC to ask him to vacate his post from Tuesday.
The trio, according to the Head of Security claimed the NDC had taken over Boards of State institutions and outfits and hence the order from Mr Yamin to ask him to stop work as head of Security at KATH.
Questions:
According to Captain Amoah he asked the persons whether they had informed his Human Resource Manager about what they were embarking on.
He said he argued that since his appointment was through a procedure which involved passing an interview and subsequently getting an appointment letter to commence work he could not be asked to vacate his office without the proper avenue being used.
After the arguments, Captain Amoah said the trio left his office indicating that they were going to inform the Human Resource Manager that they had asked him not to step foot at the Security post again.
Phone call:
Captain Amoah said since the threats seemed real and unsettling he called the Regional Police Commander to inform him about the unlawful invasion of his office.
He said the Commander assured to work on the matter.
Background:
Interestingly, Dr Fred Bedzirah, one of the three persons who stormed KATH to instruct the Head of Security to vacate his post has a bad record at the place he served as medical practitioner
He was part of the doctors who were suspended for carrying out acts of impropriety and illegality at KATH after an investigation was carried out by management of the facility after several complaints from patients and clients of the hospital 🏥.
Dr Bedzirah is currently eyeing the Chief Executive position at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
Suspicion:
Meanwhile, the head of KATH Security suspects that he has been targeted because of his uncompromising and firm attitude to work.
He says many of the persons under him has been complaining about him not allowing them room to carry out activities they feel are normal at state institutions.
This, he noted may have angered persons who may have misconstrued his hard stance as carryiny out something political in favour of the government at the time.
“I am a Ghanaian by birth and have at all times conducted myself without bias to any political ideology or leaning and if my hard stance on doing the right thing at all times is what has occasioned this threat of dismissal on my person i would be sad but I trust that the law will work in my favor”, the Head of Security stated.
