Navrongo MP Calls for Calm Amid St. John Bosco College Controversy
Honourable Simon Akibange Aworigo, Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central Constituency, has urged stakeholders of St. John Bosco College of Education to remain calm as efforts are made to resolve the controversy surrounding the removal of the institution’s principal, Professor Joseph Amikuzuno.
The controversy began when Rev. Alfred Agyenta, Chairman of the College’s Governing Council, directed Professor Amikuzuno to step aside and hand over the management of the institution by December 31, 2024. This decision sparked dissatisfaction among students, alumni, and other stakeholders, leading to planned protests in Navrongo.
Speaking to Citi News, Aworigo assured the public that discussions are ongoing with the Catholic Church and other relevant authorities to find a lasting solution. “We should all calm down. I’m sure they’re doing this with good intentions… to see the institution develop and our community develop,” he said.
Aworigo emphasized his commitment to finding a resolution that satisfies all parties involved. “My approach will be to bring all stakeholders together, find a central point where we can unite, and put the development of Navrongo at the center,” he explained.
