La Vie Foundation shows love to the less privileged in Obuasi

Obuasi-based NGO, La Vie Foundation has renewed its commitment towards supporting the vulnerable and less privileged in the society.

As an annual ritual, the NGO organised a party for persons with disability, orphans, widows, and residents of some deprived communities in Obuasi as a way of showing them affection during this festive season.

La Vie Foundation is a non-profit organisation that focuses on empowering the needy, vulnerable, and less privileged groups in society and also restoring hope to the hopeless.

Speaking to the media after a highly pstronized social gathering, Yvonne Adomako Asabre, the Executive Director of La vie foundation said the NGO has for the 12th year running, been organising such events through its “Hope Festival’ program to show affection and care to vulnerable groups in Obuasi and beyond.

She averred that the NGO since its formation has extended outreach programmes to improvished communities like Komfokrom in the Obuasi Municipality, where it empowered children to develop an interest in school.

It also contributed to illuminating the community by collaborating with the Columbian Embassy and AGA to do a special lighting project leveraging battery.

She said this year’s event has proven to be the most successful and highly patronized, expressing gratitude to the Underground Mining Alliance and other benevolent individuals for their support.

” We are always excited to bring all these people together to show them love. Our major predisposition is to bring hope to the hopeless and that is what we have set ourselves to do”, she explained.

Madam Asabre called for other benevolent individuals and organisations to support her organisations to be able to sustain the program and expand it to include other vulnerable groups in the society.

The NGO also presented bags of rice, tinned tomatoes, biscuits, clothes, and other products to the various groups present at the event.

Vida Brago Amofa, a physically challenged commended La Vie Foundation for their continuous support adding that, a lot of their colleagues finding it difficult to put food on the table especially during festive seasons.

Miss Azumah, the leader of the Association of Widows in Obuasi highlighted on the challenges widows face in managing their homes in the absence of their husbands.

She most of them go through the ordeal of losing their husbands properties to their families thereby making it difficult for them to provide for their children.

She lauded La Vie Foundation Foundation for bringing hope to to them and showing them love.

Philippe Pearce a Project manager for Underground Mining Alliance underscored the importance of lending a helping hand to the needy and less privileged in the society.

He noted that such support for the marginalised groups empowers them and make them feel loved.

Lawrence Turkson, also a project manager of UMA admonished the persons with disabilities at the programme not to look down upon themselves but weather the storm to able to make impact in the society.
