‘My heart leans toward NDC’, I genuinely wish to align with NDC in Parliament – A Plus
Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, the Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central says he genuinely wish to align with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 9th Parliament.
In a post on Facebook, he wrote: “The NPP, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has officially approached me to discuss aligning with them in Parliament. Their proposal includes several intriguing agreements, such as a commitment that they will not contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 election.
“The NDC, with whom I genuinely wish to align, has also invited me for a meeting tomorrow at 8 a.m. While I have friends in both the NDC and NPP, they have to understand that I will have to disappoint someone tomorrow. Let me make this simple and clear: deep down, my heart leans toward the NDC, but I will ultimately side with whoever has my interest at heart and provides the best offer for me and the people of Gomoa Central.”
But the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reacted and denied authorising anybody to contact Kwame Asare Obeng who is a first timer in Parliament,
In a press release dated January 6, 2024, the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong stated: “The NPP has not met with A-Plus, nor has it authorised anyone to convey any message to him on its behalf.”
A-Plus has since responded in a Facebook Live video maintaining that influential party members, including Alexander Afenyo-Markin, were involved in meetings to persuade him to caucus with the NPP.
He added that he only communicates with key figures in the party, specifically naming Kennedy Agyapong, and reiterated that his focus remains on securing the best interests of his constituents.
