GFA begins inspection of all 17 premier league venues today to disapprove venues that do not meet standard – Julius Ben Emunah, Head of competition, GFA

Julius Ben Emunah, the Head of Competitions for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), confirmed that the GFA, in collaboration with the License Committee, has commenced a thorough inspection of all 17 venues designated for the upcoming Ghana Premier League (GPL) season. The inspection began today and is scheduled to conclude by Wednesday.
Emunah emphasized that the inspections are part of the GFA’s commitment to ensuring that the venues used for the GPL meet the necessary standards for safety, comfort, and overall suitability for top-flight football in Ghana. The process, which is being conducted by experts from the GFA and the License Committee, will assess various aspects of each stadium, including pitch quality, seating capacity, safety features, and overall infrastructure.
The inspection aims to identify any potential areas that need improvement in order to meet the GFA’s stipulated criteria for hosting GPL matches. Emunah highlighted that venues failing to meet these standards will not be approved for use in the league, meaning teams will be required to make alternative arrangements for home matches if their stadium does not pass the inspection..
As the inspection process moves forward, the GFA will communicate any necessary changes or improvements required by the venues in question. Clubs will be given a clear timeline to address any issues identified during the inspection.
The GFA and the License Committee’s decision to conduct this inspection comes in line with their objective to enhance the image and reputation of the GPL, making it a premier competition within Africa. Emunah assured that the GFA remains committed to ensuring that the league is conducted with the highest standards of professionalism, and this inspection is just one step toward that goal.
By Wednesday, the final assessments will be made, and the GFA will announce the approved venues for the upcoming season. Clubs and fans eagerly await the results, as the quality of the stadiums plays a crucial role in the overall success of the league.
