Reflection and Action Needed: Most Rev. Prof. Gyadu Urges Ghanaians to Reflect on Galamsey, Streetism, and Election Aftermath
Most Reverend Professor Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, has urged Ghanaians to reflect on the devastating effects of galamsey, streetism, and the election aftermath as they celebrate the festive season.
Bishop Gyadu emphasized the need for collective action to address galamsey, which has severely damaged the country’s water bodies, agriculture, and natural resources. He called on the NDC government to tackle this issue, stressing that it affects everyone regardless of their political affiliations.
The Presiding Bishop also highlighted the pressing issue of streetism, where children are forced to hawk on the streets, putting their lives and futures at risk. He urged the new government to take this problem seriously and work towards finding a solution.
Additionally, Bishop Gyadu commended Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his swift concession in the recent elections, describing it as a “lesson in democracy.” He emphasized the importance of graciousness in victory and sobriety in defeat, urging all stakeholders to work towards a peaceful and prosperous Ghana.
As Ghanaians celebrate Christmas, Bishop Gyadu’s message serves as a reminder of the need for collective action to address the country’s challenges and build a brighter future for all.
