Defense Press Corps Swears in New Executives for 2024-2026 Term

The Defense Press Corps (DPC) has sworn in its new executive committee, marking the beginning of a new leadership term that will run until 2026. The ceremony, held at the International Press Center on Thursday, December 19, 2024, brought together members of the DPC and journalists from other media organizations.
Outgoing Dean, Mr. Ampiah Wood, encouraged members to show loyalty to the new leadership, emphasizing the need for adaptability in the evolving media landscape. He congratulated the incoming executive team, led by Mr. Joseph Armstrong Gold-Alorgbey, and wished them success and divine guidance.
Mr. Gold-Alorgbey, the newly appointed Dean, accepted the leadership role with a commitment to progress, collaboration, and transformation. He acknowledged the accomplishments of the outgoing leadership and expressed confidence in continuing their work.
The new Dean outlined the core responsibilities of the DPC, including accurate and objective reporting on the operations and activities of the Ghana Armed Forces. He emphasized the importance of educating the public on military and defense matters, both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Gold-Alorgbey also highlighted the need for transparent communication to foster public understanding of the military’s critical role in maintaining national peace and security.
The newly sworn-in executive team consists of Mr. Joseph Armstrong Gold-Alorgbey (Media General) as Dean, Shadrack Agyare (Metro TV) as Vice Dean, Christiana Nyarko (Ghana News Agency) as Financial Secretary, and Gifty Amofa (Ghana News Agency) as General Secretary.
The new leadership is committed to driving the DPC’s continued growth and ensuring its meaningful contributions to national discourse, while strengthening the relationship between the public and the military.
