Politician arrested for shooting his 22yr old girlfriend during argument
After shooting and killing his lover, Claudia Anabel Timpson Gutiérrez, 22, Panamanian politician Ronaldo Gabriel Machado Soto has been placed under arrest.
On Sunday, December 15, Claudia was found dead by a highway, her bullet wounds clearly visible.
Ronaldo first vanished after the event, but he was subsequently discovered hiding at a cow farm in María Vicenta, which is in Panama’s San Carlos district.
Ronaldo stated during police interrogation that the shooting was unintentional and that he got into a fight with Claudia inside his car, which caused the revolver he was carrying to discharge.
Her father is a professor at the University of Panama, where Claudia was a fourth-year law student.
Ronaldo, who currently works as an adviser for the National Assembly, was a candidate for the Ancón district in the May 5, 2024, elections as a member of the National Liberal Republican Movement (MOLIRENA).
The date of Claudia’s funeral is set for December 18, 2024.
