“Transition Team Defends Ongoing Recruitments, Insists They Are Statutorily Approved”
The Government’s Transition Team, has dismissed claims of irregularities in ongoing recruitments and payments by the outgoing administration.
This follows concerns raised by President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Transition Team about last-minute government actions.
The team said in a statement issued on Friday (13 December) that an agreement had been made by the joint team that, “all ongoing significant payments, recruitment and other such activities must be submitted to the Transition Team for consideration on a case-by-case basis”.
But the Government’s Transition Team rejected this assertion and clarified that all recruitment processes had received the necessary statutory approvals and were not illegal.
“Any specific allegation of illegality regarding any particular payment or recruitment should be brought to the attention of the Transition Team for a decision to be made,” stated Fatimatu Abubakar spokesperson for the Government’s Team on Friday.
She also urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that the committee had decided to halt all ongoing payments and recruitment processes, describing such claims as inaccurate.
Fatimatu Abubakar reaffirmed the outgoing government’s commitment to a seamless transition.
“We remain committed to passing the baton to the incoming government on 7 January, 2025,” she reiterated.
