Mustapha Yussif is the worst-ever sports Minister in Ghana – Andy Kerm

Sports analyst Andy Kerm launched a scathing attack on Mustapha Yussif, the current Sports Minister of Ghana, calling him “the worst ever Sports Minister” in the country’s history.

Andy Kerm, known for his candid and often critical assessments of Ghana’s sports administration, did not mince his words during the radio discussion. He argued that Mustapha Yussif’s tenure has been marked by a series of failures and missteps that have contributed to the decline of Ghana’s sports development.

Kerm’s criticism centers around several key points, which he believes highlight the inefficiency and mismanagement of the current Sports Ministry under Yussif’s leadership.

One of the primary areas where Kerm believes Mustapha Yussif has failed is in the development and maintenance of sports infrastructure across the country. Ghana has long struggled with outdated and poorly maintained sports facilities, with many of its stadiums falling into disrepair.

Despite the significant potential for sports to drive national pride and economic growth, Kerm asserts that Yussif has not done enough to modernize and invest in these vital resources. The lack of attention to these issues, according to Kerm, is one of the key reasons why Ghana’s sporting prowess has waned in recent years.

Kerm also criticized Yussif’s handling of national teams, particularly the Black Stars (Ghana’s senior men’s football team). Under Yussif’s watch, Kerm believes there has been a lack of clear direction and strategic planning for the Black Stars, which has contributed to their underperformance in international tournaments. Ghana, once a powerhouse in African football, has failed to live up to its reputation in recent years, with Kerm blaming the lack of proper leadership and management from the Sports Ministry for this decline.

Another critical area of concern raised by Kerm is the failure to adequately support youth development programs. Youth sports are seen as the foundation of any thriving sporting nation, but Kerm argues that Yussif’s ministry has not done enough to foster talent at the grassroots level. Ghana’s youth football leagues, for example, are plagued with issues such as poor coaching, lack of facilities, and limited funding. For Kerm, this is a major failing of the current Sports Minister, as investing in young talent is crucial for long-term success.

Andy Kerm Kessben FM’s Midfield Action highlighted what he perceives as a lack of transparency and accountability within the Sports Ministry. Many critics of the current administration have pointed to a lack of communication regarding budget allocations, decisions on sporting events, and the overall direction of Ghana’s sports policy. Kerm believes that this opacity is a sign of mismanagement and undermines the trust of the public in the Sports Ministry.
