Elections 2024: Special voting underway in 14 regions

In 14 of the 16 regions, hundreds of volunteers from the Electoral Commission, emergency services, and security are participating in the special voting process.

Thursday, December 5 is the special voting day for the two additional areas, Eastern and Western. This is because of a ballot paper error that forced the Electoral Commission to issue a recall and reprint ballots for both regions.

With some centers experiencing initial lines, the voting generally began on schedule at 7:00 am.

Voting will be held in 328 locations across the country, with 131,478 eligible voters—or 0.007% of the 18.7 million voters—participating.

From 7:00 am until 5:00 pm, the polls will be open.

Voting in the Greater Accra Region’s Adentan constituency, where 1,202 registered voters are anticipated to cast ballots, began at 7:02 am with about 50 persons already waiting to do so.
