Alexander Adu Quist Alleges NPP is conspiring with EC
Alexander Adu Quist, secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Juaboso Constituency, made serious allegations against the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He claimed that the NPP is conspiring with the Electoral Commission (EC) to place NPP party executives and operatives in key polling station positions.
This assertion was made during the morning show on November 20, 2024, when host Nana Kofi Frimpong Ziega called Alexander Adu Quist to discuss the reasons behind the NDC’s press conference in Juaboso.
Adu Quist emphasized the importance of political intelligence in elections, stating that their intelligence gathering revealed the NPP’s alleged scheme with the EC.
Adu Quist explained that the NDC had waited for the EC to release the list of polling officers for the constituency, which was then posted on the notice board. He noted that the NDC had the legal right to request this list.
Upon analyzing the list, they discovered that individuals known to be NPP supporters, including those who campaigned for the NPP at information centers, had been strategically included as presiding officers, polling station executives, secretaries, chairpersons, and organizers for the election.
Furthermore, he alleged that NPP representatives, who are organizers at the polling stations in Juaboso, would be responsible for distributing ballot papers and verifying voter identities.
Adu Quist argued that this situation was unfair and quoted the Progressive Intellectuals, stating that partisans should not be allowed to work as EC officials.
After scrutinizing the list, the NDC found over 70 partisans and 160 officials with no contact information or images.
Adding up, Adu Quist mentioned that some individuals whose names appeared on the EC officials list had confirmed they did not apply for any EC work, raising further suspicions.
Adu Quist called on other NDC members to remain vigilant and ensure that all EC officials are thoroughly checked to prevent partisanship.
He also highlighted that, just a month before the election, the EC had transferred officials from Juaboso to another constituency and replaced them with new officers, allegedly without proper procedure.
In conclusion, Adu Quist warned that if the EC does not address these concerns, the NPP would ensure that the elections are not fair.
