“Atubiga Endorses Bawumia-NAPO Ticket: Urges UPSA Students to Vote for Duo in 2024 Elections”

Stephen Atubiga, a former leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), to vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, in the 2024 elections. Speaking at a Campus Connect event, Mr. Atubiga described the Bawumia-NAPO ticket as the team best equipped to lead Ghana into a prosperous future.
Highlighting his reasons for crossing political lines, Atubiga criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, describing his tenure as a disappointment to the people of northern Ghana. “As a northern brother, I was deeply let down by Mahama’s leadership. He had the opportunity to transform lives, but instead, he presided over hardship, corruption, and failed policies that left Ghanaians worse off. We cannot entrust him with another term,” he said.
Mr. Atubiga praised Vice President Bawumia’s transformative leadership, citing his contributions to digitalizing Ghana’s economy and creating a foundation for sustainable growth. “Dr. Bawumia has proven himself as a visionary leader. His focus on innovation, technology, and economic stability shows he is ready to lead Ghana into a new era of development. He understands the challenges of ordinary Ghanaians and is working to provide solutions,” Atubiga remarked.
Turning his attention to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, Mr. Atubiga lauded his achievements as a former Education Minister. He noted that NAPO’s leadership in implementing the Free Senior High School policy and improving education infrastructure demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment.
“NAPO is an achiever with a proven track record. He has shown that he can deliver, and his focus on education and skills development will ensure that the youth are well-prepared for the job market. Together with Bawumia, they are the team Ghana needs,” he added.
Atubiga urged the students to be agents of change by mobilizing their peers and families to vote for the NPP in December 2024. “The youth are the future of this nation. Don’t sit on the fence. Stand up for a leadership that will secure your future. Vote for Bawumia and NAPO to guarantee progress and stability for Ghana,” he urged.
Many students expressed enthusiasm following the event. Clara Yeboah, a Political Science student, said, “Mr. Atubiga’s message was inspiring. It’s refreshing to see leaders from different backgrounds uniting for the sake of Ghana’s progress.”
Atubiga’s remarks are seen as a significant endorsement of the NPP’s 2024 ticket, given his background as a former key member of the NDC. His appeal to the youth reinforces the narrative that the Bawumia-NAPO team represents hope and transformation for Ghana.
