December Polls : NPP Unveils Bold Economic Plans

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has outlined its comprehensive economic manifesto, dubbed “Bold Solutions for Jobs and Business,” aimed at stabilizing and growing Ghana’s economy. The party’s National Director of Communication, Mr. Richard Ahiagbah, presented the proposals at a press conference held at the NPP headquarters in Accra.

*Economic Growth and Job Creation*

The NPP’s economic plan focuses on sustaining Ghana’s rebounding economy, which has seen significant growth since 2023. The party aims to accelerate growth, achieving an average annual rate of 6% by expanding agriculture, mining, and emerging industries. This will be achieved through:

1. Enhancing public-private partnerships for infrastructure development.

2. Establishing an independent Fiscal Responsibility Council.

3. Implementing tax reforms, including a flat rate tax system.

*Digital Economy and Innovation*

The NPP proposes to build Ghana into a world-class digital economy by:

1. Establishing a National Robotics, Engineering, and AI lab.

2. Providing venture funding for Ghanaian start-ups.

3. Expanding internet penetration and digital services.

*Reducing Cost of Living*

To alleviate the burden on Ghanaians, the NPP plans to:

1. Ensure food security through financing and guarantees.

2. Reduce transportation costs by promoting electric vehicles.

3. Increase access to affordable housing.

*Job Creation*

The party aims to create jobs through:

1. Training 1 million youth in digital skills.

2. Private-sector construction and infrastructure development.

3. Industrialization and agribusiness.

*Challenging NDC’s 24-Hour Economy Proposal*

The NPP criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its “24-hour economy” slogan, labeling it as deceptive and misplaced. The NPP argued that a 24-hour economy relies on a well-performing daytime economy, which the NDC has failed to explain.

*Call for Economic Debate*

The NPP challenged the NDC to a debate on economic policies, emphasizing the need for Ghanaians to understand the proposals of both parties.

With these bold economic plans, the NPP seeks to convince Ghanaians that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the party are better equipped to stabilize and grow the economy.
