Hon. Atto Forson descends on NPP for their Absence at Parliament Business Meeting

During an interview with the media after the adjourned business meeting, Ato Forson expressed his views on the matter at hand.

He stated, “The NPP, who called the business meeting, once again did not show up. I personally called the committee chair, Clarke, and I was informed that she is out of jurisdiction and that no one has reached out to her to program the business of the day.

I was worried and also reached out to the NPP side to get an indication as to what their plan was; no one responded. I am deeply worried and concerned that the very people who requested for parliament to be recalled have failed to show up.

Clearly, what we are seeing here is an abuse of the constitution and the standing orders of Ghana’s Parliament. The NPP minority caucus has indeed caused financial loss to the state, to us the NDC members of parliament, and to the people of Ghana.

We (NDC) say this because these recalls cost Ghana money. This is not the first time they have done this; they have done this a couple of times, and we see nothing but disrespect.

Therefore, we call on the people of Ghana to see the behaviour of the NPP and punish them accordingly. Certainly, everything shows that the NPP are tired, fed up, and are not ready to work for the people.”

At this point, one of the NDC Members of Parliament supporting and standing by Hon. Atto Forson whispered, “We are ready for the people.”
Hon. Atto Forson continued his thoughts by saying, “The NPP are bereft of ideas, and they are short of vision. They cannot solve the problems of the people.

All they do out there during campaigns, in spite of the hardship, is sing and dance to ‘Sisifia’ (a popular song by Ghanaian musician King Paluta). In times like this, when the ordinary Ghanaian is struggling to survive, it is disheartening to see such behaviour.

Clearly, you can see we have over a hundred MPs here today out of the one hundred and thirty-seven. He stated that the NPP are dancing and singing to ‘Sisifia’ and sharing money alongside. We want Ghanaians to see them as such, to vote against them and sack them.

To wrap up, it is left with exactly 30 days to the polls. Will this issue between the NDC and NPP parliamentarians affect Ghana during and after the 2024 election?
