The 2024 Election: A Win-Win for Both NPP and NDC
In a recent episode of the Maakye show on Kessben TV, aired on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Mr. Koo Frimpong discussed the upcoming 2024 election, describing it as both a win-win and a lose-lose situation for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His analysis was based on the outcome of the American election. During the show, Mr. Frimpong noted that the NDC would have preferred a victory for Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. election due to the collaboration between the NDC and the Democratic Party.
However, given the unexpected results of the American election, he suggested that both the NDC and NPP have potential paths to victory in Ghana’s 2024 election.
Mr. Frimpong explained that since Vice President Kamala Harris was not re-elected, a similar scenario could occur in Ghana, potentially leading to a loss for the current president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He further argued that the NDC might win if Ghanaians vote based on economic hardships, similar to how American voters ousted Harris due to economic issues. He believes that Ghana is facing comparable economic challenges.
Despite these points, Mr. Frimpong also mentioned that the NPP could benefit from sharing a party symbol with the Democrats: the Elephant, which might resonate positively with voters.
Additionally, he highlighted that the NDC’s stance on LGBTQ+ issues could influence voters to support the NPP, possibly leading to a victory for the ruling party.
In conclusion, Mr. Frimpong presented a balanced analysis, suggesting that the 2024 election could go either way, with both the NDC and NPP having valid reasons to foresee a win or a loss.
