NDC Cannot Continue Our (NPP) Unfinished Projects-Enoch Acheampong

Dr. Enoch Acheampong, a senior lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot continue the unfinished projects initiated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Dr. Acheampong, NPP has consistently implemented policies that have gained widespread acceptance among Ghanaians, from former President Kufuor’s regime to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s tenure. He said.

“Policy emanates from the government, and once it comes out, it gives direction.” Dr. Acheampong replied to Mr. Francis Addo, who explained the 24-hour economy.

Dr. Acheampong specifically highlighted the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which was initially opposed by former President John Dramani Mahama.

He said that the National Health Insurance Scheme in Ghana is deemed one of the legacies of the formal President John Agyekum-Kufuor administration.

Seeking the mandate of the people in the 2000 elections,” Kufuor promised to abolish what was known at the time as the “cash and carry system” of health delivery

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh claimed that the NDC used deceptive tactics to win the 2008 elections when he spoke at the NPP’s health walk in Takoradi on Saturday, August 17, ahead of the party’s manifesto launch on Sunday.

He claimed that, in 2016, the NDC promised to reintroduce a one-time payment option for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), building on President Mills’ initial efforts.

However, this promise was never fulfilled. Ghanaians criticized this idea that a one-time premium payment is unsustainable, as it would compromise the scheme’s financial stability.

Also, he mentioned some of the unfinished projects NDC did not touch when they took over the presidential seat in 2008.
These include Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Teaching Hospital, Sofoline interchange, Asokore Mampong Affordable Houses, and Kuntanase dual road.

He said the KNUST Teaching Hospital Project, which will facilitate the training of health professionals for the country, has been under construction for several years and appears to be abandoned for a long period.

Dr. Acheampong emphasized that policies require continuity to yield results. He noted that in 2008, former President Kufuor laid the foundation for economic growth, but the NDC’s discontinuation of these policies led to uncompleted projects.

In conclusion, he urged Ghanaians, particularly those in the Ashanti region, to support the NPP’s Agenda 111, which aims to add more projects and also to complete these unfinished projects.
