I’ve delivered on 80% of our manifesto promises – Akufo-Addo insists

President Akufo-Addo has affirmed that his administration has fulfilled 80% of the promises made in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto.

Speaking during his tour of the Western North Region on Tuesday, November 5, the President highlighted the government’s achievements and expressed his commitment to continue delivering on his promises to Ghanaians.

While acknowledging that not every promise has been met, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that most of the goals outlined in the manifesto have been achieved.

He reassured the people of Western North that his administration remains dedicated to improving the country’s development, despite the challenges encountered.

Addressing the government’s flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, President Akufo-Addo highlighted its significant impact on Ghanaian education.

Since its introduction in 2017, over 5.7 million students have benefited from the Free SHS programme, which has provided access to education for many who previously could not afford it. He underscored this achievement as one of the key successes of his administration.

The President concluded his remarks by expressing deep gratitude to the people of the Western North Region for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

He acknowledged the importance of their backing in achieving his administration’s goals and pledged to continue working towards fulfilling the remaining commitments to the nation.

“I wouldn’t stand before you and say I have delivered on all my promises. That will not be truthful but I can confidently say that 80% of our manifesto promises, I have achieved that in the areas of education, health, road infrastructure, industrial transformation, agriculture, and cocoa. In the first place, before I became the president, every year our children after graduating from the Junior High level, over 100,000 were not able to continue to SHS. Even when they passed, because of the financial challenges of their parents, they were unable to proceed.”

“So ten years – which means that over 1,000,000 kids are unable to proceed in their educational transition but today because of the Free SHS which started in 2017, to date the changes that have come to our educational system are dramatic,” he touted.
