Hon. Afrifa Donates to Asankrangwa Nursing College on Birthday

Amenfi West NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa, marked his birthday on November 2nd with a generous gesture, extending his support to the community’s future healthcare providers. In a significant act of kindness, Hon. Afrifa made a substantial donation to the Asankrangwa Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC), aiming to improve student welfare and ease their academic journey. The donation comes as a testament to Afrifa’s commitment to the educational and health development of Amenfi West, where he is vying to represent constituents in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Hon. Afrifa’s donation included ten boxes of sanitary pads, two sacks of treated mosquito nets, 450 branded exercise books, and a personal financial contribution of five thousand Ghana cedis. The event, which took place at the NMTC campus, was further enriched by the presence of the Amenfi West Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Lord Nana Tandoh, who also added his support by contributing an additional five thousand cedis. This brought the total cash donation to a commendable ten thousand Ghana cedis. Both leaders expressed a shared vision to support future healthcare professionals and contribute to their overall well-being and academic success.

The donation ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, students, and faculty members of the Asankrangwa NMTC, who warmly welcomed the contributions and acknowledged the importance of such support. Hon. Afrifa addressed the gathering, noting the significance of investing in healthcare and education as pillars of community development. He emphasized that his donation was not only a birthday celebration but also a personal commitment to the growth and well-being of Amenfi West’s young people, especially those dedicated to serving in the health sector.

Speaking on behalf of the students and faculty, the principal of Asankrangwa NMTC expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely gesture, describing it as a much-needed relief that would help students focus on their studies with fewer personal challenges. The principal noted that the sanitary pads and mosquito nets, in particular, would aid students’ health and comfort, allowing them to better focus on their rigorous training. “We are grateful to Hon. Afrifa and Hon. Tandoh for this support,” the principal said. “Their dedication to the welfare of our students shows that they truly understand the daily challenges our future nurses and midwives face.”

The sanitary pads and mosquito nets provided by Hon. Afrifa are items often considered essential but frequently overlooked in support packages for students. With mosquito-borne diseases like malaria still a major health challenge, particularly in rural areas, these treated nets will help protect students from illness, allowing them to focus on their studies and practical training. Similarly, the sanitary pads address a sensitive but critical need, contributing to the comfort and dignity of the female students. These donations indicate Hon. Afrifa’s understanding of the specific, practical challenges that nursing students face and his commitment to addressing them.

The 450 branded exercise books provided by Afrifa further underscored his belief in the importance of education. The books not only serve as essential study tools but also represent his commitment to supporting the academic endeavors of the students. In addition to the items, the financial contribution of ten thousand Ghana cedis was warmly received, with faculty members noting that it would go a long way in addressing various needs of the college and its students.

Hon. Afrifa’s support has been well-received by the community, with residents commending him for his thoughtfulness and vision for a healthier, more educated Amenfi West. As he contests for a parliamentary seat, his actions have showcased his dedication to nurturing future leaders and professionals within the constituency. His focus on healthcare and education highlights key areas of concern for the constituency, and his donation reflects his understanding of what the community needs most.

The gesture also aligns with his broader vision of ensuring that the community’s youth are empowered and equipped to make a difference. As an NPP candidate, Hon. Afrifa has emphasized his desire to bring sustainable development and support to Amenfi West, pledging to continue initiatives that uplift education, healthcare, and local businesses if he is elected in 2024.

As the ceremony concluded, the students and staff of Asankrangwa NMTC voiced their appreciation and best wishes for Hon. Afrifa’s campaign, expressing optimism about the future of Amenfi West under his potential leadership. Many attendees were touched by the kindness shown, with some remarking that such acts of generosity were a reminder of the essential role leaders play in shaping the future of their communities.

In celebrating his birthday through this meaningful donation, Hon. Afrifa has set a powerful example of selflessness and community-centered leadership, underscoring his commitment to empowering the next generation of healthcare providers in Amenfi West. The initiative reflects his belief that investing in youth is key to creating a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous community for all.
