Northern Development Forum Demands Peace in Bawku Amid Escalating Violence

The Northern Development Forum (NDF) has issued a heartfelt plea for peace in Bawku, Ghana, as the area grapples with intensifying violence and senseless loss of life. In a statement released on October 30, 2024, Major Albert Don-Chebe, Chairman of the NDF, expressed deep concern over the resurgence of mindless violence and needless deaths of innocent citizens in Bawku.

For four years, the people of Bawku and its environs have endured immense suffering, with no end in sight. The NDF is alarmed by the diversion of scarce resources from promoting livelihoods and development to endless security and mediation efforts. Citizens of Northern Ghana are traumatized by the recent clashes and urge the government to take decisive action to restore peace.

The NDF is dismayed by the lack of a discernible government strategy to address the root causes of the violence and remove agent provocateurs in the area. Instead, the organization encourages Northern Ghanaians to unite in pursuit of peace and development, recognizing that ethnic clashes will not contribute to the success or development of any community.
