La Shikitele Rebuts Accusations, Calls for Accountability and Fairness
Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, the La Shikitele (Kingmaker) and Supreme Head of the Nmati Abonase Quarter, has responded to allegations made by Anokwarensro and Okropong of Abese. During a community press engagement, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV dismissed claims of financial mismanagement and illegal land sales, calling them “untruths.”
He clarified that the La Traditional Council is not required to file financial accounts annually and denied accepting compensation for the Trade Fair site. Nii Adjei Koofeh IV welcomed calls for accountability but emphasized the need for fairness and inclusivity.
Regarding scholarships, he explained that there is no arrangement with the University of Ghana, but rather an admission concession for La indigenes. He also updated the community on ongoing negotiations for a fair Trade Fair compensation deal.
Nii Adjei Koofeh IV highlighted the Council’s achievements, including renovating the La Royal Palace and constructing an astroturf at the La Wireless School. He urged community members to follow due process and customary law, expressing disappointment over misinformation and disinformation.
