Add egg to your meal for a healthy growth – Comfort Acheampong

The National Coordinator of Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat( GNECS), Madam Comfort Kyerewaa Acheampong, has called on Ghanaians to add eggs in their daily diet for a healthy growth.

“Egg contains varieties of nutritional health benefits towards the growth and development of humans therefore people must include eggs in food preparation since it is affordable to purchase and goes with all kinds of meals”, she added.

According to her, the consumption of eggs has health benefits on the human eye, blood, muscle, bone, brain, heart, stomach among others and explained that there is no limitation in the consumption of eggs pointing out further that the myth surrounding eggs are untrue and be discarded.

Madam Comfort Acheampong made the call during the celebration of the 2024 World Egg Day at Tema community one market in the Greater Accra region.

Traders in the egg value chain embark on a float on some principal streets to promote and create awareness about the significant role eggs play in producing vitamins and minerals in human lives.

The occasion was used to inaugurate the Tema Eggs Sellers Association tasked to fervently supply eggs to meet the growing demand of consumers and come up with strategies and innovations to scale up the eggs market across the country.

Sponsors for the celebration include poultry farmers from the Bono region, namely Messers Isaac Gyabaa, D.K Ampofo, Douglas Adu, George Gyawu, Owusu Agyeman, Nicholas Yeboah and Sampson Frimpong

She, however, urged the government to support poultry farmers to enable them to boost local poultry to enhance food security and employment creation for sustainable economic growth.

The rest from Kumasi were Bernasko farms and that of Greater Accra were AMASS farms, Rans boat farms, Greater Accra Egg Distrubutors Association, and the Tema Egg sellers Association.

Body of Women in Poultry Value Chain urged the government to support poultry farmers to boost production to enable poultry farmers to have a competitive advantage over foreign poultry products.

Madam Charity Adupong, Egg Distributor and CEO of Meannan Foods, said eggs are cheap as compared to other protein foods, and it is a full balance meal, and the health benefits are enormous.
