‘We will not give NDC a lawlessness platform to disturb Ghana’s peace’ – Afenyo-Markin

The NPP MPs led by their leader Afenyo-Markin have returned to their various offices in Parliament after the NDC MPs assumed the Majority seats in the House on Tuesday, October 22.

According to Afenyo-Markin, the NPP is a peaceful party and will not yield to any “lawlessness” by the NDC.

Addressing the press in the House on Tuesday, October 22, the Effutu MP said they will not act in any manner to disturb the peace of the country.

“NPP our tradition is a law-abiding tradition. Our forebearers have been peaceful. The country is hereby informed that we will not give them (NDC) that lawlessness platform that they seek. We know there are innocent Ghanaians going about their business, innocent Ghanaians in academia, we care about them. We understand that there is politics but we will do it in a civil manner.

“NPP is a peaceful party. We will not allow anybody to disturb the peace of this country,” he said.

The NPP MPs have returned to their offices in the House awaiting the Speaker of Parliament to recall a sitting.

Bagbin’s declaration of four seats vacant automatically made NDC caucus, the Majority side in the House.

However, the NPP MPs challenged the Speaker’s declaration in Supreme Court filing an ex-parte motion to stay execution of Speaker’s declaration.

Both sides in the House now awaits Speaker Bagbin’s next course of action after the ruling by the Supreme Court.

However, they have both claimed to be the Majority caucuses in Parliament.
