Violence Erupts in Ayawaso North Constituency: NPP Members Attacked by NDC Supporters

A disturbing incident unfolded in the Ayawaso North Constituency on October 13, 2024, during the “Walk With Vanbell” event organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). NDC supporters allegedly attacked NPP members, including constituency driver Razak, who was assaulted while heading home, resulting in damage to the party’s vehicle.

The NPP has assured the public that these threats will not deter their commitment to peaceful elections. The injured individuals, including Razak, are receiving medical treatment at Mamobi General Hospital and Police Hospital. Their families are being provided with necessary assistance.

In response to the incident, a meeting was convened between the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Parliamentary Candidate (PC) Chairman, party executives from Ayawaso North, police representatives, and the NDC parliamentary candidate and executives. The objective was to find solutions and ensure peace and justice prevail.

The NPP has urged supporters and the public to remain calm, allowing police investigations to proceed and appropriate action to be taken. They expressed confidence that justice will be served and those responsible will face consequences.

Fellow Ghanaians;
We wish to address the unfortunate incident that took place today during our “Walk With Vanbell” in the Ayawaso North Constituency, where some NDC supporters attacked our NPP members during our walk.

The NDC supporters persist in attacking some of our members as they make their way home.
The NDC attacked our constituency driver, Razak, while he was returning home, causing damage to our vehicle.

We want to assure the public that no amount of threat from the NDC will deter us, the NPP in Ayawaso North, from our commitment to peaceful election.

The Mamobi General Hospital and Police Hospital are currently providing medical treatment to our driver and the affected individuals. Their families are in close communication with us and are receiving the requisite assistance .

The MCE , the PC, Chairman, together with our party executives in Ayawaso North and the police, held a brief meeting with the NDC parliamentary candidate (MP) and his party executives to deliberate on potential solutions to this issue and to guarantee that peace and justice prevail.

We strongly urge all our supporters and the general public to remain calm and allow the police to conduct their investigation and take appropriate action. We have faith that justice will triumph and those accountable for this act will face consequences.

We are confident that justice will prevail and those responsible for this atrocity will be held accountable. We are dedicated to the maintenance of a tranquil electoral process and will persist in our commitment to non-violence and unity.
