EC releases list of polling stations for Election 2024
The list of voting places for the presidential and parliamentary elections has been made public by the Electoral Commission (EC).
A statement dated October 10 and signed by Samuel Tetteh, the Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations for the EC, stated that there will be 40,647 primary polling places in total, with 328 designated for special voting.
Additionally, the Electoral Commission declared in a press release on Wednesday, October 9, that poll notices and ballots will be printed.
Strong criticism to the statement was received, especially from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). As a result, a conference with other political parties was held on Thursday, October 10.
During the meeting on Thursday, the NDC requested ballot statistics prior to the printing process. However, it was revealed that the leadership of the EC had instructed them to verify those figures with the many printing businesses that have been contracted to handle the process.
In a statement released on Friday, October 11, the European Commission made it clear that the ballot paper will not be printed on Friday; rather, the printing of the notice of poll for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections will.
