I nearly quit music forever – Phaize opens up about struggles with depression after losing his father

In a heartfelt revelation, Kumasi-based musician Phaize has shared the deeply personal challenges he faced following the loss of his father.

In an emotional interview with Kessben TV’s Mr Bonez on the Music Plus Show, he opened up about his struggles with depression and the toll it took on his passion for music, nearly leading him to quit his artistic pursuits altogether.

Phaize, known for his captivating lyrics, has been a significant figure emerging from the Ghanaian music scene. However, behind the scenes, he was grappling with the profound grief of losing his father, a loss that left him feeling lost and overwhelmed. “I was very close to my father,” he shared. “His passing felt like the ground had been taken from beneath me” he said

The weight of his grief impacted Phaize’s creativity and motivation. He found himself at a crossroads, questioning his career and the very essence of his music. “The joy I once found in creating music was replaced by a heavy silence.” he added.

Fortunately, Phaize’s journey took a turn when he sought help and began to channel his emotions into his art and has strongly returned releasing new songs.
