“Kumasi needs Kumasi” there must be at least 4 Kumasi players playing regularly for Kotoko – Asare Bediako, Young Apostles Coach

Young Apostles head coach Asare Bediako has clarified his earlier comment after drawing 1-1 with Asante Kotoko.

Asare Bediako speaking at the post-match press conference after the Kotoko game seems to have thrown a jab at his colleague Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum Narteh stating that people like him from Kumasi deserve the chance to be given the Kotoko job and would do better.

Bediako in an interview with Kessben FM expounded he did not mean to demean the work of his coach but was expressing his view about how good players and coaches born and raised in Kumasi are and do very well at Kotoko when given the chance.

“Young Apostles is a young team and that is why I was excited about drawing with Asante Kotoko.

It was our win. We studied them before the game but luckily they got a point out from the game. We had psyched our players very well before the game.

Yes I said Kumasi needs Kumasi. It is not only about coaches but also players. We had northerners who were born in Kumasi and raised in Kumasi who played and coached Kotoko very well.

At least there must be 4 regular players playing for Kotoko. I’m not saying those outside Kumasi are not good. All over the Ghana Premier League, players from Kumasi are performing very well.

The point I was making was not about coaches per say. I’m not saying I want to coach Kotoko but I can coach Kotoko and be successful” He said.
