Chiana-Paga NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy, Concludes First Phase of Market Engagements
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Chiana-Paga Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has successfully concluded the first phase of his market-to-market engagement tour. This one-week tour was aimed to interact with market women, men, and youth across various communities within the constituency.
Hon. Alamzy was accompanied by a strong team of party leaders and activists, including the Regional Women’s Organizer, Ms. Fauzia Brown, former parliamentary candidate aspirant, Hon. Francis Atayure Abirigo, Constituency Chairman, Hon. Dickson Adiali Ayagitam, Constituency Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Atinga Atulley, Constituency Women’s Organizer, Ms. Kande Braimah, Condtiuency Treasurer, Mr. Peter Akolgo and several other party executives and stalwarts. Their presence highlighted the unity and collective commitment of the NDC leadership in the Chiana-Paga Constituency as they push towards victory in the upcoming elections.
Throughout the engagements, Hon. Alamzy emphasized the need for the electorate to reflect on their current living conditions and vote overwhelmingly for the NDC in the upcoming elections. He stressed that both His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and himself, as parliamentary candidate, possess the experience and competence necessary to address the socio-economic challenges facing the constituency. He cited specific areas of development that the NDC would prioritize, including the promotion of dry-season gardening, expanding access to electricity, and constructing roads—policies that have historically been the hallmark of NDC leadership.
Hon. Alamzy assured the people that he would be an accessible and responsive Member of Parliament if elected, pledging to spearhead rapid development initiatives in the constituency. He pointed to the track record of former President John Mahama, particularly in regions like Ashanti, as evidence that one does not need to originate from a specific community to drive progress in that area. He also highlighted the NDC’s innovative 24-hour economy policy, which he said would create numerous job opportunities for the youth, fostering economic growth and reducing unemployment.
Former parliamentary candidate aspirant, Hon. Francis Atayure Abirigo, also addressed the electorate, urging them not to be swayed by deceptive narratives or fall for “skirt and blouse” voting, which he equated to jeopardizing the party’s chances of winning the election. He stressed that the entire NDC team in the constituency is united behind Hon. Alamzy, dismissing rumors that some former aspirants were not in support of his candidacy. He urged the electorate to reject such falsehoods, which he described as baseless attempts to undermine the party’s prospects.
Mr. Abirigo reiterated that the NDC had democratically elected only Hon. Alamzy to represent the party in the parliamentary race, and all former aspirants were focused on supporting him for victory. He emphasized that the party’s strength lies in its unity and collective effort, calling on the people to rally behind both Hon. Alamzy and former President Mahama in the December 7 elections.
The market tour allowed Hon. Alamzy and his team to engage directly with constituents in the Apuo Market in Mirigu, the Kandiga Market, and the Chiana Market. The team visited every corner of these markets, shaking hands, listening to concerns, and explaining the NDC’s policies, particularly the 24-hour economy policy, which they believe will solidify the party’s chances of victory in the upcoming elections.
The tour marks the end of the first phase of engagements, with further outreach planned as the NDC intensifies its campaign ahead of the general elections.
