Regive the Ghana Premier TV right to us and give us 6 months to clear our debts – StarTimes to GFA

After coming to an advanced deal with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the massive Chinese media company StarTimes is expected to take up its position as the official broadcaster of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

StarTimes now owes the GFA $995,000 after earlier suspending its coverage. The company blamed this debt on Ghana’s severe dollar volatility, which had an impact on its financial obligations.

According to a report filed by Kessben Sports, StarTimes has promised the GFA that they will pay off the remaining arrears and has asked for six months to pay off the entire amount in spite of the difficulties.

As per the reports from insiders in the discussions, the GFA has approved the amended conditions, paving the way for StarTimes to promptly start airing Premier League games nationwide.

Football fans in Ghana can now once again look forward to live coverage of their favorite teams and matches, which is a welcome development.

The broadcasting rights have been temporarily divided among a number of free-to-air TV stations while they have been away, but StarTimes’ return is expected to revolutionize Ghanaian football fans’ football consumption.
