Hon. Fatimatu Abubakar Opens 2024 Media Capacity Enhancement Programme, Emphasizes Importance of Professional Development for Media Practitioners

The Minister for Information, Hon. Fatimatu Abubakar, has officially launched the third cohort of the Media Capacity Enhancement Programme (MCEP) at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC) in North Dzorwulu.

In her keynote address, Hon. Abubakar expressed her gratitude to her predecessor for initiating the program, which aims to enhance the skills of media practitioners in Ghana. She emphasized the significance of ongoing professional development for the media community, highlighting the program’s alignment with the Ministry’s strategic objectives.

The MCEP seeks to equip the media to play an effective role in nation-building, with beneficiaries including reporters, correspondents, commentators, producers, directors, social media executives, anchors, editors, and owners of media organizations.

Hon. Abubakar noted that over 100 media personnel have been trained in previous cohorts, with the program gaining recognition as a formidable tool for enhancing the work of practicing journalists. She encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and integrity in the media.

The Minister concluded by thanking the independent working committee, facilitators, sponsors, and participants for their contributions, expressing confidence that this cohort will be another successful chapter in the ongoing story of media enhancement in Ghana.
