NDC demands live broadcast of meeting with the Electoral Commission on Voters Register

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is requesting a live broadcast of its upcoming meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) discuss findings and observations related to the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) for the December 7 general elections.

In a letter to the EC, the General Secretary of the biggest opposition party, NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey stated that a live broadcast would ensure transparency in the engagement. This request comes on the back of various eyebrows being raised after several reports of name omission in the voters register.

The meeting was requested on Tuesday, August 27, after the NDC identified significant discrepancies during the 2024 voter exhibition exercise. The discrepancies were discovered through analysis of the Provisional Voters Register provided by the EC and comparisons with registers exhibited at polling centers.

The NDC and other groups raised concerns about these discrepancies during the voter register exhibition period, which took place from August 20 to August 27.
