Student who stabbed colleague at O’Reilly SHS arrested

The police have arrested a final-year student from O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS) who allegedly stabbed his colleague to death.

The incident, which has left the school community in shock, occurred during a violent altercation on the school’s campus.

According to initial reports, the two students were involved in a heated argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.

The situation took a deadly turn when the suspect allegedly produced a sharp object and stabbed his colleague three times.

The victim was rushed to the LEKMA hospital by fellow students but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s father has shared the tragic events leading to his son’s death.

“What happened was yesterday [Monday, September 2] I saw my boy off to come to school and I also went to work. So I was at work and my niece called me that Edward was having a misunderstanding, one of the students was having a misunderstanding with Edward so I should come,” he recounted.

Despite his niece’s plea, he questioned why the teachers were not intervening, only to be told that they were sitting unconcerned.

As he rushed to the school, he received another call informing him that Edward had been stabbed and was lying on the school premises.

He later received another call from his niece to go to meet them at the LEKMA hospital.

By the time he reached the hospital, Edward had succumbed to his injuries.

“The doctor said Edward has passed away. So when they showed me the body, he had been stabbed three times on his chest,” he said.

The grieving father criticised the lack of response from the school authorities and the police, stating that neither had reached out to him.

“The school authority has not said anything from yesterday up till now. The police have not called, the school authority has not called, even the boy who killed my son, neither the family have even reached me. That is why we are here to seek justice for my son,” he lamented.

He called for justice and demanded explanations from the school authorities, questioning whether the teachers were present during the incident. T

he presence of police officers blocking the school gates has further fueled his frustration.

“They have brought policemen to block every gate stopping us from going in…So that is why we are here,” he stated.
