Bagre Dam spillage leads to crop destruction and many displaced in Upper East Region
The White Volta River burst its banks as a result of the recent, intense rainfall, causing the flooding.
In the Upper East Region, flooding have buried several acres of farmland and residential buildings. Binduri, Bawku West, and Talensi districts contain the impacted areas.
After several days of intense rain, the White Volta River burst its banks, causing the floods.
The head of the Water Resources Commission’s White Volta Basin, Jesse Kazapoe confirmed that Burkina Faso’s power company, SONABEL, had spilled the Bagre Dam, but that this was not the reason for the present floods.
