Mahama Slams Bawumia’s “Devious Intention” in Media Encounter

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has launched a scathing attack on his counterpart, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing him of dishonesty and deceit during a recent media encounter.

Speaking on the first day of his two-day campaign in Ada, as part of his Greater Accra Regional campaign on Tuesday, August 27, Mahama stated that Bawumia’s sudden stammering during the session was evidence of his “devious intention” to distract the public from the NDC’s manifesto launch.

“When you do something with a devious intention, it backfires on you,” Mahama said, suggesting that the timing of Bawumia’s media encounter was strategically chosen to shift focus away from the NDC’s policies.

Mahama noted that the NDC had announced their manifesto launch for August 24, but their opponents quickly announced a media encounter for the very next day, August 25. He believes this was a deliberate attempt to undermine the NDC’s efforts.

“Somebody who has been speaking ‘ratatatata’ like AK 47 suddenly, at a media encounter, starts stammering,” Mahama said, mocking Bawumia’s alleged struggle to maintain credibility.

Mahama reiterated his belief that Bawumia’s media encounter was a calculated move to divert attention from the NDC’s manifesto and policies. He emphasized that such devious intentions often lead to unintended consequences.

This latest exchange highlights the intense political rivalry between the NDC and NPP ahead of the upcoming elections. As the campaign season heats up, both parties are engaged in a battle of wits, with each side trying to outmaneuver the other.
