You need not less than $200,000 to play a whole season in the Ghana League, if you do not sell players you will be found wanting – Amofa Jantua calls for Govt support
Bernard Amofa Jantua, the president of Ghana Premier League side, Berekum Chelsea has divulged it costs the premier league clubs approximately $200,000 and over to play a full season in the top-flight league in Ghana.
Speaking on Kessben TV with Tony Muntana, Mr Amofa Jantua noted that with the circumstances the premier league clubs find themselves, if they don’t sell players to balance their books, it becomes very difficult for the clubs to survive.
“We have a lot of challenges, lack of infrastructure, there is no sponsorship on the league, etc. The Premier League clubs are really struggling.
The Ghana Football Association should help the clubs to get some sponsorships for the teams. Because of the lack of these things, people do not really come and watch the games.
The Government should help the Ghana Football Association to get sponsors for the league. You need not less than $200,000 to play a full season in the Ghana Premier League and if you do not sell players to balance your books, you will be found wanting.
You use $200,000 to play a league and after that, they give 500,000 cedis, this is not worth it” He said.
