History tells us that human societies have undergone evolutions and series of transformations. For this reason, it is essential for governments and policy makers to proactively adopt strategies to help their nationals adapt, as well as cope with this fast evolving transitions, which mostly go unnoticed by many.

Sadly, the undeveloped countries in the global south including African countries and for that matter Ghana lurked behind during the Industrial revolution. Presently,  the world is transitioning into infotech, biotech, artificial intelligence (AI) and  big data algorithms. This transition is expected to course disruptions on livelihoods, particularly on employment, governance and the economic system.

The big question is; how is Africa and Ghana positioning itself in this technological revolution?

The Bawumia-Napo Vision

The Bawumia – Napo alliance envisage that if deliberate policies are not advanced to equip the Ghanaian youth (Gen Z) with the needed skills and knowledge, the youth (Gen Z) would not only suffer from exploitation, under employment and unemployment but they would be confronted with something more dire, thus irrelevance.

To address the issue of irrelevancy among the Ghanaian youth, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in their respective roles as Vice President and Minister of Education embarked on various youth centric policies aimed at equipping the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge. Every well meaning Ghanaian even opposition sympathizers acknowledge Dr. Bawumia’s steadfast contributions towards Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.

Dr. Bawumia as Vice President has undertaken numerous digitalization programs aimed at setting the foundation for Ghana’s digital, infotech, biotech and AI drive.

On his part, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, As education minister is credited with envisioning, spearheading and promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in the country. This has resulted in the construction of a number of schools solely dedicated towards STEM education. Again, Napo’s reign as education minister witnessed the revolutionizing of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Ghana. The FSHS policy is a major flagship policy that’s in line with the vision to ensure that every Ghanaian child of school going age is given the opportunity to learn and acquire knowledge.

These are the visions that propelled countries like China, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, India, Brazil,  United Arab Emirates among others to become competitive although they previously were left out during the western Industrial Revolutions.

The Bawumia-Napo team  believes in the Ghanaian Youth

The Bawumia – Napo team acknowledge that there are challenges, however these challenges are not peculiar to current political administration. Truly, there are hurdles to cross and the Bawumia-Napo alliance have shown their commitment in youth capacity building as one of the main drivers to build the Ghana we want. The benefit of youth or human capital capacity building, skill acquisition and talent development far outweighs our natural resource capacity.

The Bawumia-Napo team promises and commit to make youth capacity building,  talent and skills acquisition an intentional part of our country’s development and economic growth.

Ahead of Ghana’s upcoming elections it is evidently clear which of the presidential aspirants and running mates have proven to be futuristic, reformative, transformational in thought and in action.

Arise Ghana youth for your country,

The nation demands your devotion,

Let us all unite to uphold her,

And make her great and strong,
