“Damongo Chieftaincy Tussle: Youth Group Urges Unity and Development Over Politics”

The United For Purpose In Gonjaland (U.F.P.G) youth group has issued a strong condemnation of the politicization of the Damongo chieftaincy dispute by politicians and political parties in the Savannah region. As the December 7 General Elections approach, the group asserts that certain politicians, lacking campaign messages, are exploiting the chieftaincy tussle for political gain by inciting sub-chiefs and residents to create unrest. This, they claim, hinders development in the region.

At a press conference in Damongo on Saturday, Yussif Seidu, convener of U.F.P.G, expressed the group’s opposition to the injection of partisan politics into the chieftaincy institution. He emphasized that the Savannah region has made significant developmental strides in recent years and should not be derailed by political agendas.

Seidu also announced that the group has notified the Savannah Regional Police Command of their planned demonstration on Sunday, July 21, and awaits a response. The youth group is determined to ensure that partisan politics does not undermine the region’s progress and unity. They urge all stakeholders to prioritize development and unity over political expediency, and to refrain from exploiting the chieftaincy dispute for political gain.

The U.F.P.G’s stance is a call to action for the region’s leaders and residents to prioritize the greater good and work towards a peaceful and developed Savannah region, unhindered by partisan politics.
