Speaker of Parliament Bagbin walks out Sefwi Wiawso MP Hon Kwaku Afriyie over disrespectful comment
On Monday, July 22, Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin sent away Sefwi Wiawso Member of Parliament Kwaku Afriyie.
This happened after the speaker found the lawmaker, who was representing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), to be in contempt of court for remarks that were considered impolite.
The Speaker declared during Monday’s sessions that the House has been informed of the nominations of new justices to the Supreme Court.
Following the Speaker’s reading, the MP was not impressed by how Mr Bagbin made his preliminary submission.
He described the Speaker’s remarks as prejudicial. “And I believe that as one representing the good people of Sefwi Wiawso, it doesn’t lie in your mouth to remind us of the things that you have said. Marshal, take him out of the House. I will not entertain such disrespect. It lies in my mouth,” he stressed.
