SPEECH DELIVERED BY ALHAJI ISMAELA IBRAHIM ON BEHALF OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF, HON. FREMA OSEI- OPARE ON THE OCASSION OF ZONGO CULTURAL NIGHT ON MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2024

Council of Zongo Queen Mothers

Council of Magajiyoyi, Ghana

Distinguished Guests

Ladies and gentlemen,

We express our gratitude to Almighty Allah for a successful Eid al-Adha celebration.

I am honoured to represent the Chief of Staff today and deliver her speech on her behalf.
The Chief of Staff deeply regrets being unable to join this distinguished gathering as she is currently engaged in an international mission.

Today, we are at a crossroads in history where cultural diversity is not just a concept but also the fabric of our society.

It is our diverse beliefs and traditions that make us who we are.

Our differences in language, traditions, and perspectives are not barriers but bridges that enrich our shared human experience.

Embracing this diversity means not just tolerating but actively appreciating the multitude of ways people live and express themselves. It is through the appreciation that we cultivate a society where every individual’s heritage is respected and valued.

Central to the advancement of any society is the empowerment of women. It is about time that, as a nation, we embrace the idea that the empowerment of women is not just about giving rights to one gender; it’s about expanding the potential of humanity.

Empowering women is not just about gender equality; it is about unleashing the full potential of half of the world’s population. When women thrive, societies prosper.

Therefore, we must strive to break down the barriers that hinder women’s progress, ensuring they have the same opportunities as men to lead, innovate, and succeed.

I urge you to get yourself involved in political issues or discourses. Research has shown that when women lead in politics, they bring unique perspectives and solutions to the table. They champion causes like education, healthcare, social justice, and equality, which benefit all and promote nation building and development. Our representation ensures that policies are more inclusive and reflective of the needs of all citizens.

Before I end my speech, I want to touch on a topic that has the power to shape our future and fuel our dreams: that is possibilities. Today, we stand on the brink of countless possibilities.

Possibilities are the lifeblood of progress, the essence of hope, and the foundation upon which we build our aspirations.

With possibilities, we acknowledge that within each of us lies the potential to create, to innovate, and to change the world. Every great achievement began as a possibility in someone’s mind.

As a society, we must foster an environment where the possibilities for everyone can be explored and realized. This means creating systems that support education, innovation, and equity. It means encouraging diversity of thought and providing platforms where every voice can contribute to the collective pursuit of new possibilities.

Let us pledge to build a world where diversity is celebrated, where women lead with strength and wisdom, where co-existence fosters unity, where inclusivity is the norm, and where tolerance paves the way for peace.

Let us commit ourselves to these principles, working together to create a future that celebrates our differences, champions equality, and embraces every person as a valuable part of our global family.

Thank you.
