Santasi Roundabout Tipper Track Association supports ‘Heal Komfo Anokye project

As part of efforts putting up by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to renovate Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, members of Santasi Roundabout Tipper Track Association have contributed an amount of GHC 20,000 to Heal Komfo Anokye Project committee in Kumasi.

The ‘Heal Komfo Anokye Project’ seeks to raise US$10 million in a public fundraising drive to renovate the 70-year-old in-patient wards at the Hospital.

KATH is the major referral health facility in the Ashanti region, serving the health needs of patients in 12 out of 16 regions in the country.

The Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital with its current bed capacity of 1,200 was built in 1954. It is the second-largest referral hospital in Ghana and one of the most important hospitals in the West African sub-region.

The facility has not been refurbished for many years, with portions of the building developing defects, including the ceilings, tiling and general ward environment.

The vice chairman of Santasi Roundabout Tipper Track Association, Mr Sekyere Stephen and some members of the association shared the motive behind their commitment to support the project.

The Chief Executive officer for Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Professor Dr Otchere Addai Mensah, who received the presentation expressed gratitude to the members and called on others to come on board.
