GIZ and AGI Join Forces to Empower SMEs in Ghana’s Manufacturing Sector
The German development organization, GIZ, has partnered with the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing and processing sector. This initiative aims to help Ghanaian entrepreneurs expand and grow their businesses in the post-COVID era.
After a rigorous selection process, a number of industries have been chosen to receive funding and support from GIZ. The selected businesses will receive a grant of 7,700 Euros each, with a total of 400,000 Euros set aside for beneficiaries nationwide. Both AGI members and non-members are eligible for this support.
To qualify for this financial assistance, industries underwent a thorough inspection and selection process, meeting specific benchmarks. The grant will enable the selected industries to acquire modern machinery and equipment, enhancing their manufacturing standards and practices.
Although the funding is a grant, beneficiaries must still meet certain ground rules and benchmarks to justify their selection. Representatives from GIZ, AGI, and SMEs attended the inauguration ceremony, expressing solidarity and acceptance of the package.
It is hoped that the beneficiaries will excel and pave the way for future recipients, contributing to the growth and development of Ghana’s manufacturing sector.
