Liverpool confirm former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp as manager
Liverpool have officially confirmed Arne Slot will succeed Jurgen Klopp as head coach this summer.
The Reds searched for a new boss after Jurgen Klopp announced his departure midway through the season. A deal was agreed in April and Klopp unofficially confirmed the news by singing the Dutchman’s name during his emotional Anfield goodbye on Sunday.
The club have now revealed Slot, who won the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup and finished runners-up in the 2021/22 Europa Conference League with Feyenoord, will take over as their first ever Dutch boss.
A statement reads: “Liverpool Football Club can announce Arne Slot has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach, formally taking up the position on June 1, 2024, subject to a work permit.
“The 45-year-old will join the Reds from Feyenoord ahead of the 2024/25 season after a deal was reached with the Eredivisie club for his services.
“Slot will replace Jurgen Klopp at the helm following his decision to step down from the post at the end of the current campaign.”

After a playing career where he featured as a midfielder for FC Zwolle, NAC Breda, Sparta Rotterdam and PEC Zwolle, Slot took his first job in management as the joint-head coach of Cambuur in 2016. He left for AZ Alkmaar in 2017, first as an assistant manager before becoming the top boss.
After reaching the last 32 in the Europa League and finishing second in the Covid-19-affected 2019/20 Eredivisie, Slot was sacked and took over at Feyenoord for the 2021/22 campaign.
Feyenoord would win the title the following year but failed to defend it this time around, finishing seven points behind PSV Eindhoven.
