READ THE STATEMENT BELOW:

Due to the high number of registrants that are being brought by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the ongoing limited registration, the Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by their Communications Officer Papa J has been bringing in people who do not reside in the Constituency to register. A student nurse was brought in to register who does not stay in the constituency and was challenged by CPP Agent (Dollar Man). Papa J who has no business at the premises of the registration center fought the Agent of CPP, and the case was reported to the police. The police asked Papa J to repair Dollar Man’s phone but the NDC Communications Officer couldn’t afford the cost of the spoiled phone Ghc 350. It took the intervention of New Patriotic Party’s Constituency Organizer Mr. Emmanuel Opoku (Kwamesco) to pay for the cost of the repaired phone.

On May 17th, 2024, a heated altercation took place between NDC communication officer Papa J and CPP agent Dollar Man in Oforikrom constituency The dispute arose over a challenge form that was filled out by the CPP agent for a nursing student who did not reside the constituency. The incident occurred during the ongoing Limited registration process at the Oforikrom Municipal Office.

The disagreement escalated to the point where the police were called in to intervene. Upon, the police determined that Papa J was responsible for the damage caused to Dollar Man’s phone during the altercation. However, Papa J was unable to afford the Ghc 350 needed to compensate Dollar Man for the damaged device.

In a surprising turn of events, NPP constituency Organizer Mr. Emmanuel Opoku (Kwamesco) stepped in and covered the cost of the spoiled phone on behalf of Papa J. This gesture helped defuse the situation and prevent further escalation of tensions between the two political parties involved.

Overall, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining civility and respect during political engagements, especially during sensitive processes such as voter registration. It also highlights the significance of swift and effective conflict resolution to prevent unnecessary disruptions and uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
