Clubs that qualify for Africa must be financed by the state to participate because they represent the nation just like Black Stars – Legendary Dan Owusu

Former Bofoakwa Tano and Kumasi Asante Kotoko legend, Dan Owusu has said that for Ghanaian clubs to perform well in African club football competitions, they must be well supported financially by the State.

The former 3 times topscorer of the Ghana Premier League speaking on Kessben TV’s Extra Time Sports underscored that these Ghanaian clubs that play in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup represent the country and thus must be supported financially by the state or else the clubs will continue to suffer and make no significant impacts in the competitions.

He avers that just like the Black Stars and other National Football Teams are financed by the state to represent the country in international competitions, the same can be done for the clubs that qualified for the Africa Club competitions.

He bemoaned about the huge financial burden of playing in the African competitions and urged the Government to make it mandatory to finance these clubs to make significant impacts in the competitions.
