Asantehene’s Wife Lady Julia, intriguingly narrates how she met her husband in Kumasi
During the King’s 74th Birthday dinner event, Lady Julia mentioned in her address that they first got to know each other when she arrived in Kumasi to work as the Legal and Corporate Affairs Manager for Ecobank.
She noted that to the delight of many, she carried out her assigned duty of presenting the vote of thanks at the first branch’s inauguration in the Ashanti Region.
Lady Julia divulged that Otumfuo Osei Tutu confessed to her that he was enthralled with her.
“I met Otumfuo 22 years ago when I was in charge of legal affairs at Ecobank. Ecobank was inaugurating a branch in Kumasi and Otumfuo was in attendance. I was asked by my managing director to give a vote of thanks. He tells me he was mesmerized. Even though it rained after the event he stayed behind and made sure he found out who I was and how to get in touch with me before leaving the event grounds.
Later that evening I was summoned by my managing director to a dinner at Otumfuo’s residence. Little did I know I was auditioning for a role of a lifetime and here we are 22 wonderful years later and many beautiful children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews” she said at dinner.
