Celebrating One Week Of Impactful Inaugural Speech Delivered By Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang – AFCSOs

The Alliance of Feminist CSOs (AFCSOs) celebrates one week of impact speech delivered by the NDC running mate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. About a week ago Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang delivered an inspiring message to Ghanaians during her inauguration as the running mate of H.E. John Dramani Mahama. The statement since has been highly commended by all well meaning Ghanaians. The display of intellect , eloquence and composure cannot be compared to any other. The Alliance is very proud of her remarkable performance since this is synonymous with position of the Alliance. We have argued that her track records, integrity and competence speaks for itself. The argument here is that if she has been able to excel in position of trust why not entrust her with a bigger responsibility ? She is tried and tested. She undoubtedly assured Ghanaians to even perform better on the ticket with flag bearer in her speech.
She demonstrated her boldness and commitment to serving the good people of Ghana and further criticized the ills of the current government. One of the most powerful among the speech she delivered was the fact that this election will not only be about making history but about a chance to pull Ghana from the precipice of destruction, of normalizing corruption, of incomprehensible greed, from deep despair.

She also called on the Electoral Commissioner to be credible and accountable to the good people of Ghana. She further called on them to account for the missing equipment.

She encouraged Ghanaians as way forwards, that all must work towards a Ghana that at the very least, can feed itself; where the law truly works; where there is shared prosperity; where democracy has not become a fluke; where people are not abused and where the necessities of life are not denied the majority or eventually.

As a means to ensuring accountability whoever has participated in plunder of the state must face the law. She further condemned State capture where government has use political power to favour not in broader interest but a selective few; the waste millions of dollars to dig a pit in the name of building a cathedral; COVID-19 money shared for political campaigns at the expense of health facility; ill structured free SHS among others.

She concluded her statement with projects to be executed when voted for on the ticked. Among them were clinics, hospitals, medical centres, expansion of existing universities, polytechnics turned technical universities, brand new universities focused on current and projected national needs; Mahama Schools, popularly called E-Blocks constructed from scratch; a debilitating shift system in education painstakingly and effectively abolished; tens of education expansion projects at all levels and insufficient textbook

COnstruction of new roads, the harbours, railway lines, the ayalolo buses, the lack of intimidation of opposing voices, serious investment and practice to enable a digitized economy and society and housing projects including the famous Saglemi.

Building of children and youth by offering quality education, serious, adaptable training, lasting skills, who opens up the economy to create more space for jobs and for self-actualisation.

The 24 Hour economy that inspire a new generation of enterprises to adopt a multi-shift work system and wider participation in the economy, thereby ushering us into a new golden era of Ghanaian industry. Obiara beye bi. A 24-hour economy will demand that we pay special attention to skills training – “Nsaano edwuma.”

Implementing the One Million Coders Program, which sets an ambitious and attainable goal to train over a million of youth in coding, data science, and other tech fields. The potential for this pool of young people to contribute to Ghana’s GDP is enormous.
The establishment of a Women Development Bank to nurture and grow women-owned, women-led businesses by providing capital for women.
Modernized of markets to ensure that women work in comfortable and clean environments among others she listed.
On behalf of the Alliance we will like to congratulate her for such an immaculate and inspiring speech delivered. She did not only sought to highlight the ills of the current government but also provided pragmatic alternative solutions to the problems. We call on all women to flaunt her because she has earned it. Woman Power! Ayeekooh !!!
