Akufo-Addo to inaugurate 120 homes for Appiatse disaster victims
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to commission more than 120 residential units at Appiatse that have been built for occupation.
Situated in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region, the tiny village is tucked away between Bogoso and Bawdie. This program was launched two years after a terrible tragedy rocked the town.
The recently constructed homes range in size from one to seven bedrooms and come with modern amenities like a marketplace, classroom and kindergarten buildings with six units each, internal road networks, electricity and water access, a thorough drainage system, and a water storage facility.
A vehicle carrying about 10 tons of mining explosives to the Chirano Mines tragically collided with a motorcycle in January 2022, causing the explosives to explode and obliterating the Appiatse settlement in the process.
