Mpasaaso forest near Wioso under siege due to illegal Chainsaw operators

The Ahafo Ano South West District assembly has taken serious steps to arrest perpetrators who are using the forest using the forest near Wioso for illegal activities.


At their first ordinary assembly meeting held on Friday, all the members led by the presiding member Hon Prince Oppong decided to take drastic action to crack illegal chainsaw operators who have invaded the forest.


Speaking to Kessben media reporter Mallam Yayah Hon Prince Oppong bemoaned the devastating nature of the forest by some foreign nationals mainly the Konkonbers tribe.


Hon Oppong stated that more than 50 Acres of forest land had been destroyed by these foreigners under the pretence that some company has acquired the concession.


He continued that they would not sit down for these people to take over the only largest forest reserve in the District.

Deputy forest manager for the Ahafo ano South West District Mr Anane Frimpong who represented his boss could not deny the statement but only said that they are finding it difficult to fight illegal operations because some of the indigens are also involved in the act.
