NDP Calls for a transition towards a governance policy that promotes inclusivity and participatory leadership

The National Democratic Party (NDP) Secretary-General, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, has called for a transition towards a governance policy that promotes inclusivity and participatory leadership.

During a press conference, Frimpong emphasized the importance of involving the nation, including the media and civil society organizations (CSOs), in decision-making processes.

He stated that inclusivity and participation empower citizens and allow them to have a voice in shaping the future of the nation.

Alhaji Frimpong also highlighted the role of the media and CSOs in promoting transparency, accountability, and democratic principles.

He stressed the need for collaboration between the government, media, and civil society to achieve the objectives of inclusive governance. Frimpong further suggested that Organized Labour should play a representative role in the nation to eliminate corruption by keeping a mandatory watch over administrative and financial operations.

He criticized the notion of “winner takes all” by the Executive and advocated for the election of MMDCEs to enhance democratic participation. Frimpong also questioned why elected representatives in the Legislature hinder the democratic participation of the people who elected them.

As the 2024 election season approaches, Frimpong urged a shift towards prioritizing inclusivity and participatory governance. He warned against political parties solely focusing on rhetoric and infrastructure development, instead advocating for active citizen participation to safeguard public funds and foster national development.

He suggested collaboration among the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), CSOs, and other think tanks to address key areas like infrastructure, agriculture, health, employment, and the economy.

Frimpong emphasized that true leadership inspires citizens to strive for collective wellbeing and urged all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation, to unite behind this transformative vision for the nation’s progress.
