Let’s Reflect on Our Attitudes and Activities for Growth – Most Rev Boafo
The Most Rev. Boafo, the presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, has emphasized the importance of reflecting on our attitudes and activities that hinder our growth and development. He highlights how bribery and corruption deplete our nation’s resources and calls for a reflection on the monetization of the political landscape. Additionally, he draws attention to moral decadence, including issues like greed, selfishness, character assassination, blackmailing, and LGBTQI+, which contradict the religious, cultural, and traditional values of the country. “This is an opportune time for us to renew our mindsets and attitudes for positive change”, he said.
Furthermore, as elections approach, Most Rev. Boafo urges us to reject tendencies that could compromise the country’s peace. He highlights the significance of Easter, where Jesus reached out to humanity with a message of peace amidst despair, doubt, hatred, and death. This according to him, is crucial for Ghanaians to reflect on the extreme partisanship that has polarized the nation.
Expanding on the importance of peace during and after the election, Most Rev. Boafo emphasizes the need for the Electoral Commission to be seen as a fair and neutral umpire throughout the process. He also calls for professionalism and impartiality from security personnel to foster trust before, during, and after the election. Political parties and independent candidates not left out have been asked to be cautious with their utterances to maintain peace. Additionally, he urges the media to avoid sensationalism and refrain from character assassination, as elections are meant to choose leaders and should not become avenues for conflict and bloodshed.
“Let’s take this message to heart and embrace a joyful Easter celebration, reflecting on our attitudes and working towards a peaceful and prosperous future”, he added.
